Obituary for Carol Ellen Best Itzig-Heine

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol Ellen Best Itzig-Heine, who departed this life on January 30, 2026.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband of forty-five years, Alex Itzig-Heine; her loving children, Michael, Tommer (Jenny), Madelyn (Sasa), Jason (Erika), Danielle (Dawayne) and Alex Jr.; her twenty wonderful grandchildren, Clifton, Christopher, Joshua, Jacob, Jocelyn, Hannah, Aliyah, Elijah, Dawayne Jr., Lykira, Daquan, Isaiah, Mariah, Ayaniah, Marcus, Daniel, Alana, Derrick, Jessie and Anthony; numerous great-grandchildren; her beloved mother, Carolyn Best; her dear sister, Christine; her father-in-law, Edwin Itzig-Heine, her in-law siblings, Henk, Tina, Edwin and Judy; her childhood best friend Marie and many more close family and friends.

We pray that awaiting her at the gates of heaven are those family members that have gone before her, especially; her father, William Best; her mother-in-law, Gerda “Sherry” Itzig-Heine; her brothers, William, Joseph, and John; and her grandson, Alex III.

She was known for her compassionate and gentle spirit, her kind heart, and the warmth she showed to everyone she encountered. Carol had an unrelenting care for others—always putting love into action. Her empathy and grace left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Carol’s greatest joy was sharing the light of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, with all those she encountered. She truly carried her cross as a good and faithful servant, living her faith with unwavering devotion and humility.

May the Lord welcome Carol into His heavenly kingdom, escorted by Our Blessed Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Michael the Archangel.

May the light of Christ forever shine upon her soul.
