My name is Nicholas Brown, and I'm a close friend to the Shaposhnik family, which felt like another son to Boris. After much consideration and an outpouring of love and support from friends and family all over the globe, The Shaposhnik Family have decided to create this page with my help.
Dear friends and family,
As you may have heard our dear father, friend, and life partner Boris Shaposhnik has passed away at the young age of 59. Papa Boris suffered a massive heart attack on January 5th, and on January 9th he was able to find peace and his heart allowed him to rest for the final time.
Boris was a man of honor, loyalty, love, and respect. He was the best father, brother, son, uncle, friend, husband, and boyfriend anyone can dream of. His life took him around the world - from Romania/Moldova/USSR to Israel, and finally to the United States. He was a great man - the man we could all turn to for a hug in times of despair and sorrow - a bear hug that made all of life’s difficulties seem minute and manageable. His main goal in life was to support his children and friends, to help them succeed and reach happiness. He was there whenever we needed him, at any second of the day. He had the most unique sense of humor, that was at times embarrassing but always full of joy and endless laughs. He loved us so much. And we will miss him endlessly.
Boris leaves behind his three children: Maya, Natalie, and Guy. All three children were far away when they heard the news, and immediately took flights to reach their father and fill his hospital room with love and care. Maya left her work with AIPAC in NY and hopped on the first flight to LA. Natalie, who was in Malta at the time, flew from Israel and postponed her work. And lastly Guy, a first-year medical school student came in from D.C. It was the biggest and most beautiful blessing for them to all be there by their father’s side during his precious last moments.
With that, they combined efforts to afford a respectable funeral, casket, vault, and to respectfully uphold Jewish tradition. Boris loved life - never did he did think or plan that he would leave his family behind at the young age of 59, with three children in their 20’s.
We are grateful for the support that we have already received from some of Boris’ friends and family during this difficult time, and yet are still trying to organize the remaining funds. A lot of you have asked us how you can help and we have decided to open this account so that anyone who would like can contribute in Boris’ memory and help ease some of the financial strains of his unexpected passing.
The funds will go towards the funeral costs, tombstone, any medical expenses and bills, insurance payments, legal fees and last minute travel costs we all incurred on our trip here.
Any donation is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions you can speak with Maya Natalie or Guy via Phone or Facebook.
We would love to hear any stories of Boris you would like to share with us. We know he touched many lives and we are grateful for these memories.
With love,
The Shaposhnik family
