In early August, our beloved Bombie started limping. We thought it was a simple leg injury, maybe a torn ligament. So we did what any loving pet parents would: we took him to the vet, hoping for a straightforward solution. But that was just the start of a difficult journey.

The vet referred us to an emergency hospital. At first, they tried medication like Rimadyl and then Gabapentin. But nothing seemed to help. After a week, we found ourselves at another hospital, preparing for ligament surgery—only to learn that Bombie had severe kidney issues. His kidneys were failing at a frightening rate—75% function loss. Surgery had to be put on hold, and our focus turned to saving his life.

For a week, Bombie stayed in the hospital as they worked to stabilize his kidneys. He was so brave, and we held onto hope. At one point, they even feared he’d need a blood transfusion, but he rallied. We brought him home for a few days, but his condition worsened. A second opinion confirmed our worst fears: his kidney failure was too advanced. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

Bombie was our first dog together and part of every chapter of our life as a family. He moved homes with us four times, saw us through thick and thin, and gave us unconditional love. Losing him has been one of the hardest things we’ve ever faced.

Bombie wasn’t just any dog; he was a bundle of joy who greeted every person he met with a wagging tail and a big heart. He was a true people’s pup, always making friends on our walks and bringing smiles to everyone who petted him. He had this incredible, bubbly spirit—full of energy and love for life. Even when he wasn’t feeling well, he tried to hide his pain just to keep us from worrying. That’s the kind of loving soul he was.

We’re asking for your support to help cover these unexpected medical costs and to honor Bombie’s memory. Anything you can give will mean the world to us as we navigate this loss. Thank you for being part of our journey and for loving Bombie with us.
