In loving memory of Bernice Labrador
Donation protected
I'm a close friend of Bernice Labrador's daughter and was devastated to hear of Bernice's unexpected passing on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from complications from covid after having fought three long, hard weeks against the virus. Bernice did not have life insurance and the family is struggling to find a way even to hold services. For the simplest of services, including a viewing and funeral, Bernice's friends and family are striving to raise $4,100, and we hope you can lend a helping hand to a family in a time of desperate need.
Bernice made a difference in people's lives. Surviving the trauma of residential schooling, Bernice turned toward the work of healing by devoting herself to youth, from her work with youth at the Boston Indian Council, to her devotion to her children and grandchildren. Her surviving children and grandchildren, and generations of youth, have benefited from Bernice as a proud Mi'kmaq woman herself bestowed with gifts from untold generations of Wabanaki ancestors, whom she has now joined. Thank you for honoring Bernice Labrador's life.
I will be transferring 100% of the funds gathered in this fundraiser to Bernice's daughter Kerry for funeral services. Anything helps, even if it comes after services are held (date still to be determined), to defray debt.
