On November 6th Bernice Baker, age 45, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, leaving behind her loving husband and their two beautiful 7-year-old twin boys.
Bernice was an incredible mother, partner, and friend — full of warmth, laughter, and kindness. She was also an active and deeply caring member of her community, which reached far and wide from Newfoundland to Alberta. She believed with all her heart that life was meant to be about connection, compassion, and creating a true village.
Just weeks before her passing, Bernice had officially registered a new business — a heartfelt project aimed at connecting mothers and families in the community. Her vision was to help others find the support, friendship, and sense of belonging that she so naturally created in her own life.
Her husband Paul has been the family’s primary provider, working away from home on rotational shifts to support them. Now, as he steps into the role of sole caregiver for their boys, he will need to find work closer to home — even if that means reduced hours and income.
This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the immediate financial strain of this heartbreaking transition. Funds will go directly toward supporting the family’s living expenses, childcare, and stability as they begin to rebuild life without her.
This is a personal fundraiser created out of love and compassion — there are no products or rewards, only heartfelt gratitude for any kindness shown. Every donation, large or small, helps give this grieving family a bit of breathing room and support as they navigate the road ahead.
May Bernice’s dream of community, connection, and kindness continue to live on through the love and generosity we show her family now.
Thank you for caring, sharing, and keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bernice in both Alberta and Newfoundland, dates to be determined.
