Update: Barry's memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29th from 1:00 to 3:00pm at California Cremation and Burial located on 5880 El Cajon Blvd. San Diego, CA 92115.
Our hearts are heavy as we share the unexpected loss of our dear coworker and friend, Bear “Barry” Simpson. Barry was a man of quiet strength, a steady presence who never sought the spotlight but whose loyalty and dedication spoke volumes. Just recently, he celebrated an incredible 28 years with Sharp Health Plan — a milestone that reflected not only his hard work but the quiet pride he took in showing up for others, day after day.
Barry leaves behind his beloved son, Barry Jr., daughter-in-law, Chereva, his precious granddaughter, Brielle Eva Lee — the light of his life, and his forever love, Fifie. Anyone who knew Barry knew how much he adored his family, especially little Brielle, whose smile could light up his entire world. His face would soften every time he spoke about her, and his eyes would carry that unmistakable sparkle only a proud grandfather could have.
Outside of work and family, Barry had his passions — he was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, always ready to talk football, and he had a special love for his collection of Michael Jordan sneakers. These little joys reflected the warmth and personality of a man who may have been quiet but was deeply genuine and full of heart.
As we come together to remember Barry, we want to honor his life not only in words, but through action. His passing was sudden, and his family now faces the overwhelming emotional and financial burden of laying him to rest. We are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of his funeral and memorial services — a final act of love and gratitude for a man who gave so much yet asked for so little.
No donation is too small. Every contribution will go directly to Barry’s family to ease their burden during this difficult time, allowing them to focus on grieving, healing, and celebrating his life.
Let’s join together to show his family that his quiet kindness did not go unnoticed — that he was valued, appreciated, and loved.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and prayers.
p.s. We will provide further details about his services as soon as more information becomes available.
