In loving memory of baby Jack: Support for his family

Hello, my name is Chanelle, or in this case, "Auntie Chanelle." I’m looking to help provide support for two of the most selfless people I know—Shawna, Addison, and big brother James.

On July 28, 2024, Shawna and Addison welcomed their precious baby boy, Jack, into the world. Shortly after his birth, Jack was rushed to Alberta Children's Hospital, where he spent nearly four months fighting for his life. His journey began in the NICU, intubated as his family anxiously waited to hold him in their arms. Over the weeks, Jack showed incredible strength, but his medical team continued to search for answers to his ongoing struggles. Despite Jack's efforts to make progress, there were many ups and downs, as his condition remained unpredictable.

Throughout this time, Shawna and Addison never left Jack’s side, travelling across the city daily to support him, as well as Jack's older brother James. They spent many nights and long hours by his side never giving up hope that they would soon bring him home. This wish became more and more as the holidays approached.

After a long and heartbreaking battle, baby Jack passed away peacefully in his parents' arms on the morning of November 20, 2024. In his short life, he showed us what a courageous, remarkable little boy he was.

Now, Shawna and Addison face the unimaginable grief of planning a funeral for their precious baby, whom they had dreamed of bringing home. The coming months will be filled with profound pain and loss, and they will need time to mourn and process.

I’m hoping to alleviate some of the financial burdens they face as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. If you know Shawna, you know her heart is endlessly giving—always thinking of ways to help others. Even in her own grief, Shawna has already expressed her desire to donate Jack's diapers they received to families in need and to pay it forward to Alberta Children's Hospital. Both Shawna and Addison are constantly putting others first, and now it’s our turn to send some love back to them.

Money will go toward end-of-life costs for Jack, and help support the family as they grieve. Anything additional will be to support Alberta Children's Hospital to express immense gratitude to Jack's medical team.
