For Cecil and Gwenisha Terrell, that moment came on what should have been a day of celebration, their daughter’s second birthday.

That morning, they dropped off their youngest daughter three month old Cya at daycare, believing they would see her again later that day.

Just a couple of hours later, they received the phone call that every parent fears.

Their precious baby girl had stopped breathing.

In a single day, this loving family experienced unimaginable joy and unimaginable heartbreak. Their children lost a beloved baby sister. Cecil and Gwenisha lost their precious daughter. A birthday that should have been filled with laughter, cake, and memories became a day their family will carry with them forever.

No parent should ever have to bury their child. No brother or sister should have to grow up without the baby they were already learning to love.

As they grieve this devastating loss, Cecil and Gwenisha are also facing the overwhelming financial burden that follows an unimaginable tragedy.
