In Loving Memory of Austin Wills

Donation protected
On Saturday July 25, 2020 we suddenly lost our dear friend. Austin Wills known to most as “Ozzy” was a father, friend to many, a legendary waterman, and a staple in our small town that we call Kailua Kona. A man who loved the ocean no matter what he was doing in it. Whether it was surfing, fishing, diving, or teaching surf lessons the ocean was his home away from home. But more than anything Austin loved his family. Austin was a father of two beautiful girls Maia 9 and Omi 6. A son to uncle Rex and aunty Marilyn Wills, a brother to U’i , and a partner to Jamie Cadiente the mother of his children.

While many of us have our own Ozzy stories mine began over 20 years ago when his family welcomed me with open arms into their lives and into the lives of their extended beach ohana at Kohanaiki. I was the haole boy that would be dropped off by his grandma at the beach all day and would raid their coolers for food and drinks and catch rides the aunties and uncles’ home at the end of day. Fast forward some years I would come to know Ozzy as a powerful surfer with a kind heart and a passion to teach others in the water surfing. Ozzy loved to teach surfing and would donate his time freely with organizations such as Surfers Healing and S4SN non-profits that taught surf lessons to special needs children from around the world. Ozzy was a surf instructor at Kahaluu Beach Park for many years and was staple in water and will deeply missed in the lineup.

We tragically lost his beautiful soul so sudden. In this time of grief and healing we would like to support Jamie, Maia, Naomi, uncle Rex and aunty Marilyn in the most fitting manner possible as we continue, as a community and ohana, to power through this devastating time. For those looking to offer their support to Austin’s family, we ask that you consider making a donation to this GoFundMe campaign, and encourage you to please share with your network of friends & family. We realize that offering financial support to the Wills ohana during this uncertain time may be difficult for some. Please know that any amount is appreciated tremendously as we work closer to reaching our fundraising goal. Funds raised will be used for funeral expenses and everything else will go towards his daughters.

This campaign was setup by myself  Wesley Moore with consent from the family.  I've been best friends with Austin and close to the family for over 20+ years. All monies raised from this fund will go to Jamie Cadiente his partner of many years and mother of their two beautiful daughters.  Their daughters Maia and Naomi will also be beneficiaries.
