In Loving Memory of Anthony Blas

Our family is heartbroken to share the devastating loss of our beloved Anthony.

Anthony was such a fun, loving, and unforgettable person. He brought laughter and happiness wherever he went, and he was deeply loved by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

Anthony had so much life ahead of him, and he just recently turned 18 years old. He loved playing football along with his twin brother. He was excited about his future and the dreams he was just beginning to build for himself. Anthony was a freshman student who had only been at Cal State University Fullerton for a few short weeks, and he was excited and looking forward to his future.

Our family is now facing the unimaginable pain of losing someone we loved so deeply, while also trying to navigate the unexpected financial burden that comes with such a heartbreaking loss. We have started this GoFundMe to help our family with any costs that have come with this sudden tragedy.

We also want Anthony’s story to have a lasting purpose.

Alongside helping our family with these immediate expenses, we hope to use any funds raised to help spread awareness and educate young people, families, and surrounding communities.

Our family hopes to begin working toward meaningful changes in the law. Our hope is to work with lawmakers, educators, and communities to push for stronger awareness and education for incoming college students, especially freshmen, about fake, underground, and unrecognized fraternities and organizations; how students can identify them; and the potential dangers of becoming involved with an organization that is not what it claims to be.

We believe students deserve to have this information before they arrive on campus and before they are approached or recruited. We want incoming students and their families to know what questions to ask, how to verify whether an organization is legitimately recognized, what warning signs to look for, and where they can turn for help if something doesn’t feel right.

We hope to take Anthony’s name and his memory to lawmakers and advocates and ask for stronger education and awareness, so that another young person and another family doesn’t have to experience this kind of unimaginable loss.

Anthony’s life mattered. His future mattered. And we want his memory to help protect other young people.

No family should have to prepare to say goodbye to someone they love, especially someone so young with so much life ahead of him.
