My mother, Ann Marie, has been fighting breast cancer since 2013, but on May 7th, 2021 at 7:30 pm , she lost the fight. It all started when she did a lumpectomy of her right breast. The doctors offered to do a reconstruction of the breast for her. She was in the process of doing chemotherapy and radiation back to back to fight off the cancer. In 2016, the breast that got reconstructed on started to get infected. Because of the infection, they had to remove it. Doctors took a while to remove the implant because no one wanted to be held liable for the implant that was put in. The infection led to tumors growing underneath, leaving her with a open wound on the right side of her chest. With all this going on, she then found out that the cancer was pressing on her spine, so my mother had to undergo a spinal surgery. She was unable to walk and started losing feelings in her legs. She tried to gain her mobility back by going to rehab. Because she was unable to move freely on her own, she got a nasty bedsore that would not heal. My mother was in and out of the hospital a lot more and getting weaker by the day. Her most recent hospital visit was fatal. Doctors say she was in critical condition. She had caught pneumonia, her kidneys were starting to shut down, and the cancer was now spreading to her lymph nodes and lungs. Ann Marie was extremely loved by her family, friends, and everyone she met along her journey. She will truly be missed. All donations will go towards her funeral and memorial service. Thank you.
