On December 6th, our community tragically lost a beautiful soul: Angeleka Loxam, a compassionate 19-year-old with a bright future ahead of her. Angeleka passed away in a fatal car accident around 8:30 PM. She was the sole occupant of her vehicle when it lost control and struck a light pole near the Golden Ears Bridge. Despite a passerby and first responders rushing to her aid, Angeleka sadly died at the scene. This sudden loss has left her family and friends heartbroken and in shock, struggling to come to terms with the reality of her absence.
A Life of Kindness and Ambition;
Angeleka was an extraordinary young woman – caring, sensitive, intelligent, and ever observant of others’ needs. She devoted much of her time to helping people, volunteering and working in a nursing home where her gentle compassion touched many lives. Her bright mind and big heart fueled ambitious dreams: Angeleka aspired to become a criminal lawyer, hoping to stand up for others and seek justice for those in need. Even at 19, she was already making a difference in the world, and those who knew her admired her determination and generosity. She had a way of making everyone feel heard and cared for, embodying a spirit of selflessness well beyond her years.
A Devastated Family – A Mother’s Heartbreak;
Beyond her accomplishments and good deeds, Angeleka’s deepest devotion was to her family. She shared an incredibly close bond with her mother, her only daughter and best friend in the world. Four years ago, Angeleka’s father – her mother’s partner of 18 years – passed away, leaving the two women to navigate life leaning on each other. In the wake of that loss, Angeleka became not just a daughter but also her mother’s closest companion and source of strength. They were truly inseparable, supporting one another through every challenge. Now, Angeleka’s mother faces the unimaginable heartbreak of losing her only child. She has not only lost her beloved daughter, but also the last immediate family member she had. Angeleka was her mother’s whole world, and the void left by her absence is indescribable. Her mother is devastated and utterly alone, forced to endure a parent’s worst nightmare just a few years after losing her husband.
Cherished Memories of Mother and Daughter;
Those who knew Angeleka and her mom know how special their relationship was. They loved spending quality time together, often enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Some of their most cherished moments were nature walks and fresh air – wandering through beautiful places like Stanley Park, admiring the trees and ocean breeze side by side. Every weekend, they would make time for a little tradition: a visit to their favorite Starbucks, sipping coffee and chatting, laughing together as only best friends could. These small traditions and shared adventures in the park highlight the unbreakable bond they had. Angeleka’s mother will forever treasure these memories – the afternoons spent on sunlit trails, the comfort of those coffee chats, and the warmth of her daughter’s hand in hers. It’s these heartfelt memories of love and friendship that will carry her mother through the darkest days ahead.

No parent should ever have to bury their child. In addition to unimaginable grief, Angeleka’s mother is now facing significant financial strain. As a single, grieving mother, she is struggling to cover the costs of a funeral and burial to honor Angeleka’s memory. She also needs support for trauma counselling and basic needs while she tries to heal from this tragedy.
