On Wednesday, August 6th, the world lost a beautiful soul in my Father, Anatolio Medina Castro.
To those who knew my Dad, he was someone who always lit up the room. The life of the party. His smile and charismatic energy was always felt a mile away. It was unmatched. It was felt in moments he was there and even moments he wasn’t.
My Dad had this beautiful knack of always being able to bring the best out of people and always made you feel seen. He never failed to say hello, always made time to talk and joke with you, and always made sure you were doing well. He was truly someone who put you before himself.
My Dad, was also someone who truly embodied hard work and sacrifice. After coming to this country decades ago in the 80s, my father worked continuously to provide for his family back home in Mexico and later his soon to be family here in the U.S. with my mom Maria Guadalupe, my brother Gerardo, my sister Monica, and myself. I can remember vividly my Dad waking up at 3 AM to get ready for work and working extra hours to be able to help put food on the table and make ends meet.
Despite that, my Dad always made time. Whether it was watching Dodger games with me and watching my baseball games growing up, going to my sisters school functions, going to my brothers football games, going to Mass with Mom and the family, my Dad never failed to miss those special moments.
A legacy of true hard work, dedication, unconditional love & support, and so much more.
Over the past few years, my Dad was in a constant battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. An incurable disease where scar tissue builds up in the lungs, disrupting normal lung tissue, and making it harder to breathe over time. It has single handedly been the toughest thing that I know our family has ever had to deal with.
However, we now know God called on him to be in a better place: to rest in peace in his presence. ✝️️️️
We kindly ask for your support in being able to give my Dad the Funeral he deserves. Any contribution, no matter the amount, is so greatly appreciated. We want to thank you all ahead of time with true gratitude in our hearts. God Bless you all. ❤️
