Ana Ruth Cabrera-Cornejo
October 27, 1976 - May 26, 2020
Our beloved Ana Cornejo transitioned into eternal paradise on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Ana was the personification of the familiar saying, “To know her is to love her.” She possessed a natural ability to face adversity with poise and tenacity, find the opportunities hidden in challenges, choose to see and celebrate the gifts in all people, and spread joy with her easy going, endlessly positive outlook on life, which she shared freely with her beautiful smile and cheerful laugh.
In her short time on this earth, Ana meant so much to so many. At work, Ana made every child who came to the Lincoln Heights Youth Arts Center feel like one of her own. She had a beautiful way of making each and every student feel seen, special, and loved. She made every parent feel welcome. She was always quick to lend a helping hand and was known to go out of her way for her family, coworkers, students, and community members alike, no matter how big or small the task. She was as reliable a colleague as she was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Family was everything to Ana. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jose, her three sons, Izaiah, Jeremiah, and Elijah, who were her pride and joy; an honorary daughter, Erika, who she loved as her own; and her young grandson, Micah, who was the newest beneficiary of her sweetest affection. Ana's love and devotion to her mother, sisters, nephews, nieces, and all of her family ran deep, and we hold them all up in prayer at this time.
We have lost an extraordinary person, our very own Wonder Woman, far too soon. Her loss will leave an irreplaceable void in our hearts. May we honor her spirit by being a little more like her with each waking day: loving deeply and with your whole heart; walking your truth; viewing the cup as half full instead of empty; and living each day as if it will be your last.
Our dearest Ana, thank you for sharing yourself so generously with us. Thank you for the beautiful memories which we will always cherish. Thank you for teaching us by example. You will be missed deeply and your legacy will live on through your family and friends whose lives you changed forever.
May you Rest in Power and in Peace!
Please support her family during this difficult time by making any size donation. All are deeply appreciated!
