In Loving Memory of Alfonso Guerrero

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jennifer. In the early morning hours of October 4th we got the call that our father had passed after 5 days battling for his life in the ICU. He left behind such an impactful legacy and many wonderful memories. It’s never easy losing a loved one, especially someone like our dad Alfonso. He was a man with the spirit of a lion and the heart of a warrior. For the past eight years he had been fighting multiple health conditions. In 2014, he underwent a triple bypass surgery that caused him to go into Congestive Heart Failure and End Stage Kidney Failure. It was a tough battle and we had many close calls over the years. He was a fighter and gave it his all til the very end. During this difficult time, our family is asking for help to lay him to rest with prayers or a few dollars. Anything helps during this tragic time and we humbly thank you all in advance.

I’d like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about my dad Alfonso’s story. He was born in the city of Campo 47, Obregon, Sonora MX on December 12, 1957. He left his home at a very young age and found his way to the United States in search of possibility and wonder. He wanted to see for himself what this country had to offer. He was a curious young man with a free spirit who wanted to travel the world and seek many adventures. Unfortunately, when he arrived he didn’t make the greatest friends and found himself living a hard life of drugs and gangs. After many years of living that lifestyle, he knew he wanted better and chose to give his life to Jesus.

In 1980, he found Christ after a near-death experience. From that moment on he made it his goal to spread the word of God to anyone who would listen. He spent his days reading the bible, teaching the word, going to bible studies and learning to play songs on his guitar all to lift God’s name in high. Our dad was the best teacher and we knew we could go to him with any questions about the Bible or life in general. Having a troubled past allowed him to have the wisdom to tackle any problem that arose. He proved that all the way to the end.

One of his greatest qualities was that he had a giving heart. He loved gifting people small trinkets that may seem insignificant to others but those small gestures filled him with so much joy. He always gave but never expected anything in return. If he could give the shirt off his back he would and we will always remember that about him.
He met our mother Bianca in 1984 and married her on November 21,1987. They shared 34 beautiful years of marriage together and two children together– Jonathan and Jennifer. Together they made a lifetime of memories, they built the home he never had growing up, they loved and respected each other and tackled all problems life threw at them hand in hand, side by side, together till the end. He was an amazing husband and best friend.

Despite not having a father figure, he was such a great dad. He even got a “father of the year” award in our elementary school. He always made sure we did our homework and during summer vacations he’d take us to the park to practice math for the upcoming grade. He always said, “I want my kids to be the smartest cookies”. Although he didn't have a formal education that never stopped him from trying his best with his kids. Our dad was our biggest fan and always supported our hobbies and interests. I was always into the arts so he made sure I always had paints, colored pencils, and pastels. He would say I took after him since he loved to draw as well. My brother was very hands-on so he’d get him legos so he could build things and once he got old enough he had him working on classic cars with him in the garage.

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of our dad’s story and again we thank you for your prayers and donations.

Funeral arrangements and preparations are costing up to $23,000. Whether you know Alfonso Guerrero personally or not his family can use your support and love. Any monetary amount would be a blessing to help the family. All GoFundMe donations will be withdrawn to Jenny Guerrero to pay for all of the arrangements.
