Our father Alejandro Cruz Garcia Martinez passed away December 30,2020. He tested positive with coronavirus on November 25,2020. We tried very hard with the resources and knowledge we knew to fight it at home. Unfortunately, his oxygen levels kept dropping to where he made the decision of going to the hospital for better care on November 30,2020. The first two nights he seemed to be doing well oxygen levels were up and his blood pressure was being controlled and it seemed like he would be returning home that following weekend. It was only the beginning of a roller coaster. His oxygen levels started to drop and his blood pressure was becoming harder to control so they placed him in the ICU for better monitoring. With each update and every call we grew more anxious and worrisome. Some days things seemed to get better and a discharge day was insight other days discharging was definitely not a possibility. We had about two zoom calls with my father at this point because he was having a terrible cough that caused his oxygen levels to drop drastically. Which later we learned that he had pneumonia. We had one more zoom call scheduled and this time our little brother who lives in Mexico was going to join. Things started to turn for the worse. He told us that we would do the zoom call the following day because he was not feeling very well. Come to find out he decided that night that being intubated would be better for his oxygen levels to get better. Now, at this point we were making three to four calls a day for an update. Once intubated his kidneys started to shut down which led to him needing dialysis. His blood pressure was becoming very difficult to control and his lungs were not bettering. By the grace of god and the wonderful doctors and nurses two of my siblings were able to see our dad in his last moments while the rest of us were in the waiting room. Our siblings with our dad were comforting each other and reassuring our father how much we loved him and that we were there fighting with him. Our father had reached his one month mark being in the hospital. He was becoming very tired with how much he was fighting to become better but he decided to go home to god and his beloved wife. Never was he alone during his final moments. We thank the nurses, doctors and anyone who may have helped with our father for keeping him comfortable, talking to him and just being a friend to him in those few days that we was awake. We truly understand the monetary stress everyone is under during this pandemic, thus making it difficult for us to ask for help to begin with. As this is for the the heart and soul of our family, anything you are able to help/support us with will be TRULY be appreciated and cherished.
