In Loving Memory of Adair

Adair Cleland-Host, 19, passed unexpectedly on January 12th in a tragic accident. He leaves behind his loving siblings, Kaedon, Rowan, and Connor, as well as his father, Jon, and mother, Heather.
More than a brother and son, Adair was a light in every community he touched, both in his hometown of Midland, then Lake Orion and on campus at Michigan State University, where he was pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Biology and Zoology, with a minor in Creative Writing.
Always curious, willing to take on responsibility, and eager to pursue his passions, Adair was a very involved Sophomore at MSU. He served as Vice President of MSU Science Theatre and was a member of many organizations, including the Zoological Students Association, Research Initiative on the Study of the Environment Program, Tabletop Gaming Club, Northern American Indigenous Students Organization, and Gender & Sexuality Campus Center. Even more indicative of his kind and generous nature, Adair led a week-long trip to 20 underrepresented schools in the Upper Peninsula, inspiring young minds as he shared with them his love of nature and science.
A graduate of Lake Orion High School, Adair demonstrated early on his intellect and leadership skills, founding the Go Green Club and being selected for the Science National Honor Society.
Everyone in his life also knew well of Adair’s ardent storytelling abilities, able to captivate any audience across all genres, whether chronicling a weekend’s activities or passing down Native American Myths he originally heard from his dad. His words weren’t his only medium to capture a moment or tell a story, though, as his photography was another beautiful expression of his creativity and appreciation for nature.
More than a son, brother, Dungeon Master, or student, Adair was a friend to everyone. His kind soul was always there for those who needed him, whether it was to help his cousins say goodbye to their furry best friend or to drive his grandparents to their physical therapy appointments (after beating them at Cribbage of course). And while we might not be able to see him anymore, Adair will still be here for us, in all of our hearts, as we remember the impact that he had on our lives and aspire to be more like him every day to carry on his legacy.
Adair’s family is understandably devastated by this loss and grappling with life without Adair. We’d like to show our support during this difficult time by helping them cover the unexpected costs due to this sudden tragedy and lay Adair to rest as he would have wanted.
Thank you for any support. Your kind words and acts have meant everything to our family.
With Love,
Adair's Family
