My mother, Kim Sor Lay was a selfless, loving, kindhearted person. She always put others needs first before her own and was willing to lend a hand whenever anyone needed help. She was known and love by many. Her passion was cooking - she loved preparing food by putting lots of care, attention and enthusiasm into the process. She would not only cook course meals for her family but also for the Cambodian temples where she volunteered.
Everything came to a halt when she was diagnosed with gastric cancer in 2018. Her gastric cancer took a toll on her which caused her to lose a lot of weight and hair after chemotherapy and radiation. My mother was a fighter - she was not going to let this defeat her. The cancer stopped growing and she was able to stop treatment. My mother gained a little weight back and her hair grew back also. Life seemed some what normal since she was able to go back to cooking and enjoying food again. We would monitor the cancer to make sure it doesn't grow/spread.
Unfortunately, the cancer returned this year and was spreading quickly. She was then on J-tube feeding (which is a tube that delivers food and medicine through the abdomen / midsection of small intestine). This would allow her to be healthy enough to be able to eat soft food and liquids by mouth.
As time progressed, things got worst and she was unable to take in food by mouth. This caused her to switch from J-tube feeding to TPN feeding so she can get full nutrients. Her gastric cancer has then reached multiple organs of her body which caused her to be in excruciating pain. Her body started to shut down slowly after being admitted into the ICU. My family near and far rushed to her side to be there next to her.
The next following day (Tuesday November 28, 2023), my mother, Kim Sor Lay passed away.
My family and I have created this page to ask for your help in donating to assist us with funeral expenses for getting a columbarium. This would be a final resting place for her so her family and friends can visit her.
*Columbarium is a vault or structure with recesses in the walls to hold urns containing cremated remains.
Your donations are greatly appreciated.
If you are unable to donate, please share.
My family and I appreciate any sort of help.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Rest in heaven, Mom - we miss and love you dearly.
