In Honour of Apolonia Pereira
Donation protected
Born on January 8th, 1922 in Nairobi, Kenya, Apolonia was the wife of the late Pascoal Pereira and mother of 12 children; presently survived by 8. Despite her large family, Apolonia always made time for her community, where she was adored and loved. Privileged to celebrate her 100th birthday, Apolonia passed on April 14th, 2022.
After her husband of 41 years had passed, Apolonia made her final move from Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania to Majorda, Goa. She spent the rest of her days building her home, going to church, and spending time with the nuns at the Mother of God convent across her home and the community. The church was an important part of her life. Apolonia, a devoted Catholic, was an active parishioner at the Mother of God Church in Majorda throughout her days.
For us who believe in the Catholic faith, committing the body to its final resting place expresses the hope that the deceased awaits the glory of the resurrection. In the town of Majorda, the deceased's final resting place is disturbed because the burial is only temporary. Three years after the burial, the body is moved and placed into a communal area to allow for space to be freed up for future burials. Currently, there is no available infrastructure to allow families to mourn their loved ones at the cemetery in Majorda.
The Mother of God Church in Majorda is planning to build a new niche (mausoleum) on Church property to give the people of Majorda a place for their loved ones who have passed - A dignified final resting place where families can pay their respects. Majorda is a small town in a third-world country and the Church doesn't have the finances to develop this infrastructure. With no support, this is merely just a plan that could take many years. Together, we could raise the funds to make this plan a reality.
Your support is key!
In memory of Apolonia, we want to help raise funds for the Mother of God Church and the people of Majorda. With your contribution and willingness to share our message, this fundraiser will allow the Church to put the plan in motion to expedite the building of the niche (mausoleum) so the community of Majorda can have a dignified resting place for their loved ones.
Thank you very much for your consideration. We hope we can count on your continued support.
