We are heartbroken by the passing of Allan Groves on September 3rd, along with his dear family.
Allan was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an active outdoorsman, conservationist and small business owner. Allan had a big heart and served the community of High River for over 40 years at Groves Greenery. He was a staple in his community and loved by so many.
The flood of 2013 that devastated High River caused both Allan & LaDonna to lose their livelihood and gradually, their health. Because their particular area was not the most heavily impacted, they were not eligible for flood relief aid - even though all of their stock died during evacuation and severe health trouble ensued upon their return to High River. They were forced into early retirement and were unable to pay off operating loans and the mounting medical bills. LaDonna is in a hard place right now and we have the opportunity to make a difference for her.
Allan is the last man on earth to ever ask for a handout. He was a hardworking provider. So many people who know Allan and LaDonna have been recipients of their great generosity over the years. They used Groves Greenery as venue to give to others and have been known to quietly slip some cash to folks they loved who were in need. We want to honour who Allan was to his family and his community by pulling together to support and cover LaDonna in this difficult time.
As you remember who Allan was in your life, would you consider giving to this campaign to help bridge the gap for her?
All of these funds will go straight to LaDonna to help pay off their operating loan and medical bills.
Thank you!
