In 1982, in the heart of Lancashire's textile industry, a journey began with a remarkable woman, Brenda Ainsworth . She was the co-founder of rucomfy, a business born from humble beginnings, hand making pet beds to sell at local markets. It was a testament to her incredible work ethic and determination.
But while she was building a business, Brenda was also dedicating her life to a cause that was deeply personal to her, The East Lancs Hospice. For over 30 years, she was a tireless champion for this incredible place, driven by a simple but profound desire to give back.
Grandma Brenda was a force of nature. She channeled the same passion she put into her business into her fundraising, from organising charity balls to running lively yearly stalls. She even once dyed her hair bright pink, all for the hospice. Her unwavering dedication was a heartfelt way of saying thank you for the comfort and care her own family members had received there over the years.
Brenda's life was a masterclass in giving. She built a business, nurtured a family, and dedicated herself to her community.
Now, it's our turn to honour our Matriarch and continue her fundraising efforts for The East Lancashire Hospice. The team at rucomfy will be tackling the Ribble Valley Born Survivor obstacle course on Saturday the 13th of September
By donating to this cause that was so dear to her heart, you are not only helping East Lancs Hospice but also celebrating the life of our wonderful Grandma Brenda.
