In Honor of Ziva

Donation protected
Greetings,

As some of you may know, K9 Ziva has had some tough days in the past few weeks. Detective Shawver, Ziva's handler, noticed the week of Christmas 2023 that Ziva had two visible growth or masses that developed between her back legs and stomach area(both the size of large grape or golf ball). Detective Shawver made an appointment with our veterinarian and began the testing to diagnose the issue. The Vet did two rounds of biopsies and sent the last set of samples to a lab to be identified. The results came back to Detective Shawver and K9 Lieutenant Hogan in the first week of February. K9 Ziva had tumors identified as an infiltrative lipoma and both developed into the size of a baseball. These tumors are considered benign (noncancerous) however these masses are aggressive in nature attaching to fatty tissue and bone. The area the tumors are located would require not only for it to be removed but also for a slow and methodical radiation and chemotherapy to be used to rid the entire area. This treatment would be very costly, and K9 Ziva would go through a miriade of complications and setbacks physically. Even with this method of treatment the percentages of full success are low. Based on this diagnosis, Detective Shawver and Lieutenant Hogan have brought all these details to Sheriff Seabolt and his administration. The conclusion to several meetings and several days and nights of thinking what is best not only for K9 Ziva but also for the Randolph County Sheriff's Office is to lay K9 Ziva to rest.

K9 Ziva has been a invaluable asset to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of this county. She has been the direct result of multiple arrests ranging from narcotic arrest to successful wanted and fugitive persons arrests. Her accomplishments will not be forgotten and the time together her handler will be cherished forever.

The ceremony has been set for Tuesday February 27th, 2024 at 0900 hours. The location is set for 1578 Skeet Club Rd High Point NC. Everyone is invited to the ceremony as we say goodbye to K9 Ziva one last time. All are invited to attend to support Detective Shawver and rest of the K9 handlers as they will be escorted by the motor unit to the ceremony. The escort will begin promptly at 0800 hours from the main office parking lot. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Honor Guard will greet the motorcade at the veterinarian's office. The parking lot is small however there are several businesses nearby that will allow for additional parking. Let’s all show support to K9 Ziva as she has supported the mission of fighting with us on the thin blue line.

We are raising money to help the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office purchase another K9 to help serve the community in honor of Ziva’s exceptional service to the community over her lifetime. Donations in any amount are very much appreciated. Thank you all who spread awareness and donate. Ziva will be dearly missed by all.
