In Honor of Tommy Doxey: Cremation Fund
Donation protected
With such a heavy heart, and on behalf of Tommy’s family, I am creating this fundraiser to help pay for Tommy Doxey’s cremation expenses.
Our brother caught the Westbound in the early morning on August 21, 2024.
Tommy was my friend and former land mate when we both lived in Weed, CA, and he moved into Gonzo’s old trailer that I had painted hot pink and neon green zebra stripes. Tommy hung up a Motley Crüe poster and the tin box took on a new era.
When I first met Tommy, I was like “this dude is gonna annoy the hell out of me,” but first impressions were something that I’m certain Tommy didn’t concern himself with, especially at that time. And my impression was (mostly) incorrect. What I quickly learned when getting to know him, was that Tommy was funny. He was SO funny. He had the biggest heart. And he had style. Not “style” in the fashion sense, no no no way - he wore the same shirt for like a year straight and it was covered in dirt, beer, and cooking oil. He had style in his mannerisms, and that was the most unexpected and endearing quality I found in him.
It was Tommy’s style and attitude that caused him to win the 2014 Bolympics gold medal, and as a useless member of the biased judge committee (I was always too drunk to know what the other judges were deliberating about), I can tell you: Tommy won the gold NOT due to points, but due to being gold, himself. The drunken, discerning judges had decided: Tommy was the best. When he won, there was an uproar of victory among the whole crowd. Tommy wins!!
And when Tommy brought Caitlin around and the two of them fell in love, I knew my friend had a partner who saw him and would be loyal, and that he really had won. Thank you, Caitlin.
He will be so, so missed.
I am certain Tommy’s loss is reaching far and wide as people's hearts are breaking but right now we need to support Caitlin and Tommy’s family however we are able.
And I know that a lot of Tommy’s friends would not be considered the wealthiest folk in the world. Train bums, home bums, hobos, tramps, house punks, and beyond, we ask you reach into thy pockets and spare what change ye can. Tommy’s cremation will be a very large expense and burden on his closest family if we don’t chip in.
So let’s take some of the hardship off of those who loved Tommy the most at this time. I’m sure he would appreciate that.
Thank you,
