In Honor of Pete Ranson
Donation protected
Dearest Family and Friends,
As you are aware, we are faced with the sudden and unexpected loss of my beloved father. Ma has stated that in lieu of flowers she would rather people make a donation, but she was unsure to what organization. As many of you know, Dad was the sole provider to our family. With his passing this leaves Ma to face many challenges in the coming days, weeks, months, and even years. I am asking that any donations be made here in support of her. I know Dad had life insurance, but I have no idea how much or how far it can be stretched. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for your love and support through this impossible time.
Love Always,
Gloria
Obituary
Peter J. Ranson, 82, of Lincoln Park, went to be with his Lord on November 28, 2020 after a swift and mighty battle with Covid 19.
Peter was born on August 23, 1938 to Emmet & Madeline Ranson of Ecorse. He joined the United States Army in 1961 and became a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. He served time in the Korean War and reached the rank of Sergeant by the time his service ended in 1964.
He married Linda Pack of Wyandotte on April 18, 1969, and they had two children together, Jeffery and Gloria. They resided in Lincoln Park. He worked as an electrician at McLouth Steel in Trenton for 33 years, and at Rouge Steel in Dearborn for another 22 years before retiring in 2012.
Peter was humble and selfless. He loved his family, and cherished his faith, dearly. He enjoyed many years of bowling and golf. He loved music, parties, dancing, and telling bad jokes. He loved the Red Wings, the Tigers, U of M football, and (like many of us) tormented himself with Lions football on Sundays. You could almost always find him outside working in the yard, as he loved to keep himself busy.
Peter is survived by his wife Linda, his son Jeffery, and his daughter Gloria. His grandchildren Phillip, Celeste, Bradley, Kelsey, Noah, and Stevie. His sister Betty (Jack) Henderson, brother David, and sister Mary Kay (Mike) Walerowicz. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Emmet & Madeline Ranson, brother Charles “Babe” Ranson, and sister Joan (Ed) Messineo.
SERVICE INFORMATION: Visitation will take place at R. J. Nixon Funeral Home, 2544 Biddle Ave., Wyandotte, Michigan on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm . He will lie in state at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1540 Riverbank St., Lincoln Park, Michigan on Thursday, December 3, 2020 beginning at 11:00am, with Mass beginning at 12:00pm.
