Pedro Lopez—known to many as Pete or simply the “Flower Man”—was a loving husband, devoted father, and man of deep faith who served the east Charlotte community for more than three decades. Originally from Brazil, Pedro traveled to the United States to share his faith and build a family. After meeting his wife, Merja, in New York, the two eventually settled in Charlotte, where they raised their three children.
Pedro became a cherished figure in the community through his flower business, where he tirelessly shared his faith and extended a helping hand to anyone in need. In return, the community continually showed him their appreciation, affection, and respect. Even as he faced health challenges in his final days, Pedro’s faith never wavered, and he displayed an unshakable optimism.
Pedro passed away peacefully at home on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, surrounded by his family.
During this difficult time, the Lopez family is seeking support to help cover funeral expenses and medical costs incurred during Pedro’s final days. As a family, we hope to honor his legacy by continuing to share the gospel and carrying on the flower business he poured decades of work and love into. The Charlotte community has lifted our family with unwavering kindness throughout all the years Pedro lived here, and we hope to reflect that same generosity in the years ahead.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on December 5, 2025, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park after the service. We warmly invite all who are able to attend.
Thank you for your prayers, support, and kind wishes.
—The Lopez Family
