In Honor of Niko

As many of you know, Niko went in for the battle of his life this past Monday.

Allie and Will received news Niko had a mass on his spleen that had ruptured. They also found out he has multiple lesions on his liver. By the grace of God and the surgeon and her team, Niko’s spleen was removed and biopsies were taken. All while attempting to keep his blood pressure up. He went through multiple transfusions and finally and auto transfusion.

Niko came home last night and is just a good boy.

This afternoon Allie received the call none of us wanted. The biopsy results were back and Niko’s has been diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. It is an extremely aggressive form of cancer. Typical life expectancy after diagnosis is 1-2 months.

Due to the likelihood of Niko having another mass rupture, the difficult decision has been made to say goodbye. To allow this amazing dog to leave the way he lived. He is strong and loyal. He is brave and courageous and ever by Allie’s side. He will receive the gift of leaving this world with grace and dignity as the hero and Top Dog he is.

I initiated this page to allow all of those who have reached out and asked how they can help an avenue to do so. All money raised not needed for medical expenses and end of life care will be donated to Valley Water Rescue in Niko’s honor.

He will never be forgotten.
