My father deeply loved Mai and her 9 year old daughter Eye. They have been his closest family for the last 13 years. My father had taken them under his wing and has become like a father to Mai. Mai’s mother left her the day after she was born. Her father took care of her until he was killed when she was 3 years old. She was placed in an orphanage at age 3 and lived there until she was 12 and left so she could go work. She met my father at age 19. My father took care of her and sent her to school to learn English. Since then he has emotionally supported and financially contributed to their lives . Most recently my father was making a monthly contribution to Mai to finish building a house in Lampang,(1.5 hours from Chiang Mai where my father lived), where he would have a room as he was needing more help as he aged. Now Mai has no means for finishing the house which is half done. The money she makes each month is spent totally on survival for her and Eye. I don’t want my fathers death to mean the end of a dream for Mai and Eye to finally have a home of their own, especially after a life of having no real family. Please consider donating something to build Mai’s house in honor of my father. Mai’s heart is so big and I will be forever changed by her fierce kindness, generosity, and love during this experience of losing my father.
