We begin the year, not with hope, but with heavy hearts as Marciano Jenkins fell victim to the first shooting in Lexington, Ky of 2026. Marciano was a bright young man, a graduate of Frederick Douglas high school, with hope and dreams of pursuing a football career through college. He leaves behind three young siblings and a single mother, devastated by his passing. His mother, Courtney Fields, must now raise her three young children through this tragedy, continue to care for elderly aunt, whom also resides in their home, all while preparing to send off her son one last time.

No mother prepares to bury her child. With deep sadness and genuine need we reach out for any assistance that can be provided. We lean on one another and our community in these trying times.
