Can you imagine two police officers showing up at your door? Marc left for his Spring motorcycle ride around noon. It was around 4 pm and he would typically not be gone that long. I was getting slightly worried, but it was a beautiful day, and I thought he went on a little adventure. Two police officers showed up at my door at 4 pm. When you see two police officers at your front door, you already know something is terribly wrong. Marc lost control of his motorcycle, and someone saw a cloud of dust on the side of the road. They pulled over and called the police. Marc was not conscience and barely breathing. They airlifted him to Verde Valley Medical Center. Marc didn’t make it. I have not been able to bring myself to find out what happened at the hospital, but I imagine someday I will.
What I do know is that I lost the love of my life and that I will never see him again. There is nothing worse than having your love leave the house and never return home. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye or be prepared for this surprise end to his life. The next worst step was to call his only living immediate relative, his brother Scott. Marc and his brother just lost their mother last year. They only had each other left. As you can imagine, his brother Scott is devastated and trying to cope as best as he can.
I will continue to wonder why this happened. Marc was very safety conscious and always rode in full gear. Did he lose control? Did something cross his path? What happened? These are questions to which we will probably never get answers.
His brother and I are struggling not only to come to grips with this emotionally, but we are both financially unprepared to deal with the extra costs associated with Marc’s unexpected death.
The funds will be used for: Marc’s cremation; memorial service; refund to those loving friends that have already provided funds to start the memorial and cremation process; any fees associated with obtaining documentation; and costs related to keeping house and utilities for a short duration of time until I can piece everything back together. His brother and I will greatly appreciate any support you can provide.
