In honor of Jose “Pepito” Ilos
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Charee Ilos-Taylor, the only daughter of Jose “Pepito/Pete” Ilos. On Sunday, September 4, 2022, my father passed away at the age of 66 after losing his harsh battle to a rare disease of esophageal cancer.
My dad’s health started to decline in 2007 when he had kidney failure, and was a dialysis patient for 8 years before he was able to get a kidney transplant. He had also undergone a triple heart bypass surgery, lost vision in one eye, was diabetic and had other health complications throughout the years. Even after all of his hospital stays and doctors visits, he never complained about any pain he endured in the last 15 years, and always had an optimistic outlook on life regardless of his multiple illnesses.
A loving husband, father, and friend, Jose was a favorite of all who knew him. His warm smile and joyful personality shined bright and will be dearly missed. This is a devastating loss, and our family is still grieving the passing of my maternal grandfather who also lived at home with us just last year, October 22, 2021, which is also my parents wedding anniversary (10/22/94).
In lieu of sending flowers, please consider donating any amount within your budget to help pay for the high cost of a funeral service, bills, and beyond. As this is the last event we can do for my father before we lay him to rest, we would like to give him a beautiful memorial that he deserves to repay him for all of the hardwork he did for our family and friends, and to honor his strength & courage.
There will be a 1-day viewing at Mission Mortuary, Monterey, California.
*Details for the memorial service will be shared as they become confirmed.
Also, while I know everyone has the best of intentions, please understand my mom, brother and I need our personal time to grieve, process, and navigate through our new reality without my dad. All of your kind, heartfelt messages are deeply appreciated and please do not take it personal if we are not able to respond. We value every single prayer and the abundance of love sent our way. May the Lord continue to bless us all.
