In Honor of James "Jimmy" Hanching
Donation protected
On January 14, 2025, at 3:00 AM, I received tragic news that my close dear friend, James "Jimmy" Hanching, has passed away. He was more than a close friend to me. He was the older brother I never had, and eventually, I called him my Uncle.
Jimmy was definitely a one-of-a-kind person. He was said to be "the unicorn of unicorns." I've known Jimmy for a solid 15 years. I never saw him upset or mad. He always had a positive attitude on his worst days. Jimmy was truly an unselfish person, always putting others before himself. If you didn't drive, he'd drive you to the ends of the earth. If you didn't have money to buy a meal, he'd get you anything you wanted. If you needed someone to talk to, he would always listen.
Jimmy was well known within the magic community. Every time he would show up to a meeting, you could hear the whole room scream "Jimmy!" and eventually, throughout the years, everyone would scream "Uncle!" He would always light up the room and always be the life of the room.
Magicians, myself included, would always run to Jimmy for constructive criticism. He was very inspiring, uplifting, and very patient. If you lacked confidence, he'd help you build it. If you couldn't get something right, he'd sit with you for hours until you did. After listening to his criticism for the past 15 years, I now realize that he would've been a fantastic teacher.
I'm starting this GoFundMe page to help raise funds for any unexpected hospital bills his family may encounter. Any leftover funds will be donated to a diabetes charity in his name.
Rest Well Uncle Jimmy
