Fauea “Chubbs” Salima, our brother, son, best friend, cousin, and coach, passed away early in the morning, 12/14/2020, due to complications from Covid-19. He joins his mother Rosita Salima three months to the day of her passing. The Salima family has been hit hard, mourning the loss of mother and brother while our father Sapa Salima still fights for his life against this virus, The sisters have all tested positive, but have no symptoms, and are quarantined. This means that any services for Chubbs must be postponed until at least January.
The money that is raised through this GoFundMe account will go directly to pay for hospital care and expenses as well as funeral expenses to lay Chubbs to rest.
We are all still reeling from the loss of such a young, and vibrant soul as Chubbs. A fixture in the community (in many communities!), Chubbs loved playing football and volleyball at Carson High, then El Camino College. Many of you may remember seeing him at the Staples Center during the years he worked as a Red Coat security team member. We could always spot him while watching the game at home. Throughout his life, Chubbs continued to coach and mentor young people in football and volleyball, giving back to Carson High, and then most recently as assistant coach to the Long Beach Volleyball Club.
We know that many are suffering during this terrible time, and we are eternally grateful for any amount that you can give. Even the smallest act of kindness will make a difference. Thank you for your time and support -- the Salima family
Gerald Aquiningoc is the family liaison, and has agreed to act as the beneficiary so that he can facilitate the funds transfer quickly.
The extra funds made will go towards the hospital expenses of Chubbs father.
