Bill passed away in the early morning of January 26, 2023, after a rigorous and brave battle with small cell lung cancer. Bill was one of a kind and will be dearly missed by many.
Since April 2021 both Bill and his wife Mary each battled cancer requiring chemotherapy, radiation, and extensive medical care. In summer of 2022, Mary successfully completed her treatment and hoped to celebrate by planning her retirement and begin enjoying life again with Bill. A few days after Mary retired, Bill was diagnosed with cancer and their family had to immediately return to the frightening and exhausting experience of cancer treatment.. While caring for Mary, Bill often discussed his wish to return to their life of cruises, wine tasting and visiting restaurants in Sonoma County. They did not get to travel again.
For almost 30 years, Bill’s career was in health care with profound empathy and dedication to every patient his department impacted. When he was very ill, he often commented about the excellent care the outpatient oncology team and hospital caregivers provided to him and his family – and that as a patient, he truly understood how important every person was on the care team healing patients and their families.
Regardless how sick he was, Bill’s priority was always to care for his family . At this time, we ask you to help us honor his wish to provide for his family by assisting Mary with covering the numerous expenses that occur when two consecutive cancer diagnoses impact one family. We know that Bill would have appreciated each one of you who will be kind enough to help the Dalton family.
All donations will go directly to Mary Dalton who is loved by the Santa Rosa Memorial lab staff.
