Bella Rose Jackson-Fleming, born February 27, 2009, passed away
unexpectedly on November 11 from respiratory failure due to anaphylactic
shock. Bella grew up in Spokane Valley and was currently a
student at University High School. She was an athlete through and through.
Over the years she played soccer, basketball, softball, club softball,
volleyball, and even served as the catcher on a boys’ baseball team. She
was a naturally gifted athlete who seemed to shine in anything she played. You could see her strength, focus, and fire come alive on the field.
Many people saw in her the unmistakable spark of her grandmother, Sally
Jackson, a force of nature whose impact on the Spokane Valley still lives on. Sally founded the Spokane Valley Girls Softball Association more than sixty years ago and shaped generations of young athletes through her leadership, grit, and love for the community. Bella carried not just her
grandmother’s strength but her unmistakable presence. People recognized it immediately. It was always, “Oh my God, Bella is Grandma Sal.”
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Spokane Valley Girls
Softball Association, honoring the legacy of both Bella and her
grandmother, Sally Jackson.
