Art’s Facebook hashtags could not be closer to the truth, “#lifeissupershort” and “#lifeisshort”.
On Wednesday, November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving, Art was involved in a three-car accident. He was cohesive enough to call 911 and was taken to the hospital. He spent nine days there and had two surgeries. Art was stable and beginning to heal, so he was released and sent home. After being home for a very short four days, he was rushed to the emergency room. He suffered a pulmonary embolism and had to be resuscitated twice; one of those times he was without oxygen for over an hour. He was then put on life support, but peacefully passed away less than 24 hours later. This was a major shock for all of his family, especially his wife and son, whom he took care of in every way possible.
Art was a good man with a heart of gold. His kind-nature was limitless and was the epitome of giving a stranger the shirt off his back. He loved his wife, son, menagerie of cats, and his little doggy girl, Sophie. Unfortunately, Art's accident and passing has led to financial distress for all of them.
If you can help in any way financially, we all would be extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity.
I'm Jessica Alva, Art's sister in law and Katie's sister. I live in California, so Disney meet ups were always a must; a place we all loved to be together as a family. The donations will go directly to Katie and be used for the hospital bills and major financial debts that has been accrued due to the accident. I started this fundraiser to help her and am beyond floored by the outpouring of support.
RIP Art. November 12, 1975 - December 9, 2020.
