In Honor and Memory of Dan Tidwell

For our friend, Dan Tidwell, who left his home in Humble, Texas to grip hands with us as a loyal classmate at West Point. A fitting hometown for such a gentle man who lived his life with graceful humility. Danny is remembered distinctly as one who generously shared with us his bright smile, his warm greeting, his helping hand, He epitomized the spirit of West Point to Cooperate and Graduate and the spirit of the Class of 85 to Strive for Excellence. Our memories recall Dan excelling at boxing, at engineering, at being a true friend. He was one of the nicest people we have ever met, always upbeat and sharp enough to be selected to represent us for a semester at the Coast Guard Academy. Dan's sense of humor shone through. He was a patient person who inspired us all to do better and allowed us the time to get there. He always had a positive word of encouragement. A natural leader. He was one of our brightest lights, kind to all. Dan loved his family and he loved us and he honored us with his presence at reunions and at Founders Days. We were lucky for our time with him and we are happy to give him a proper send off now, until we meet again. Thank you, Dan, for being genuine you, one of our greats. You will be missed, but we will hold on tight as you continue to grip hands with us though it be from the shadows. Our grip from now on will extend to Danae and Janelle and we are thankful that they are Humble too, like their Dad, accepting of our help. We appreciate being able to give something back to you who gave much to us.
