Linda desperately needs SURGERY to SAVE her arm!!

Help SAVE Linda's right ARM from being amputated.

Hello. I'm Linda Roberts. I have been living in Cabo since October 2005. I need surgery to save my right arm from being amputated. I have had 28 months of excruciating pain from my original emergency surgery in June 2020 in Cabo. Unfortunately, my arm & elbow did not heal properly. I have an infection in my soft tissue and bone which is spreading despite 3 months of strong antibiotics. I need surgery now to stop the infection from spreading further. The titanium hardware that protrudes from my bone through my skin should have been removed 2 years ago but postponed because of the 2020 Covid pandemic and medical bankruptcy.

It took 2 years and 2 different California Health insurance companies to discover it's much cheaper + more efficient to have surgery in Mexico at H+ and heal at home with a qualified caregiver. Praying for all this to happen early November.

$5,500-6,000
Surgery at H+ with Dr. Enrique + medical team + hardware

Pre op: $250
Chest X-rays, EKG, Blood tests, appt with Internal medicine Dr to monitor epilepsy

Post op: $4,000
$1.5 k Home Caregiver
$2+ k Physical therapy
$500 Follow up Dr appts, X-rays, medicine, driver

Total Goal: $10,000

The funds will be used for my surgery at H+, Pre and Post op medical expenses. I need to get surgery ASAP to focus on healing.

Surgery plans: Open column procedure to remove the titanium wiring protruding out of my elbow, clean the wound, take infected tissue samples, send to Lab. Fix my ulnar nerve if possible. Free my encapsulation. Increase my flexion & extension. Not 100% but certainly better!! With your prayers and help, I hope to regain use of my right arm with less pain.

I postponed surgery needed far too long from my awful accident on Memorial Day 2020. A worker moved a large 150+ lb antique mirror into my hallway but did not attach to the wall. My life changed drastically when I grabbed dog leashes hanging from the coat hook on the mirror to go for a dog walk that evening. The mirror fell on me. It crushed my right elbow, fractured 7 bones in my arm, cracked my head open, causing a Grand mal epileptic seizure. Unconscious until the next day. First, I went to Reforma hospital. Doctors discussed amputation above my elbow and told me to return the following week. Insane pain. No cast. Just bandaged up. 5 days later, I returned but the surgeon still wanted to amputate. So a friend took me to a private local hospital, Hospiten for a 2nd opinion. Dr. Alvarez took new X-rays. Then ordered $8,000 of titanium hardware. I needed to be stabilized for a few days. Then, 3 hours prior to surgery, I had another Grand mal seizure. So surgery was delayed 3 more days.

Unfortunately,10 days at Hospiten + surgery cost $22k USD. My emergency GoFundMe raised almost $6k. Regretfully, my son had to pay the balance of $16k. I spent $7k more on X-rays, follow-up Dr. appts, Home Caregivers, drivers + PT.

I have seen 4 more Orthopedic Surgeons since for medical consultations. My primary local Doctor prescribed oral & IV antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds during flare ups when my arm leaks fluid. He referred me to Dr. Enrique, an Orthopedic Traumatology Surgeon who trained in MX City.

I have LOST 55 pounds including muscle since my accident. I still have limited flexion & extension of my right arm since my surgery. It became apparent during PT sessions that my arm & elbow were not improving. My X-rays show the titanium hardware mess. I can't reach my face, brush my teeth or hair or eat right handed. Difficult to bathe, get dressed and drive. Can't reverse. I am right-handed although I have become more ambidextrous.

I'm a Sales & Marketing Executive and a professional pet sitter. Passionate about rescuing, fostering and adopting. Spay & Neuter Clinics & Fundraiser Events. I need 2 hands and both arms to rescue more cats & dogs, take care of my 7 rescued furkids and work again.

Why Mexico? I can't afford California health insurance anymore. My monthly Health Net insurance tripled in cost this year. Not affordable despite making so many frugal sacrifices. I survived 2 years without AC. 4 months without running water because my water pump had to be replaced again. I will never forget missing my son's wedding in Brazil because I am in too much pain to travel.

I waited 2 years for a complete reconstruction of my arm at UCSD. I can't wait a day longer. My life has been on hold. I live alone so I need help post op. Home caregiver, pet care, driver and PT.

Please help me get the surgery needed to save my arm. I'm usually such a proud independent woman but asking friends for support now. Donations of ANY amount are appreciated. No donation is too small. Every contribution will help me reach my goal. It would mean a lot to me if you can share my fundraiser link on social media. The more exposure I get, the faster I will reach my goal!!

Thank you so much!! Dog bless you. ❤️
