“Honouring Alex’s memory by giving children and young women in Zimbabwe brighter futures.”

Supporting Children and Tackling Period Poverty in Zimbabwe

This year, I am returning to Victoria Falls for the third time to support the Alex Ruffell Memorial Fund, set up in memory of our close friend Sue Ford’s son, Alex, who sadly died of meningitis in 1998.

The fund supports children at Chidobe School, and over the years we’ve seen first-hand how fundraising directly benefits their lives—helping to provide essential resources inlcuding school dinners, improve education, and open up opportunities that every child deserves.

On this visit, I am also privileged to be working again with Days for Girls International, a charity that is doing extraordinary work to end period poverty. They provide reusable sanitary products and deliver vital education on menstrual and sexual health, including teenage pregnancy prevention, directly in schools. For so many girls, this makes the difference between missing lessons and being able to stay in education with dignity and confidence.

Working within women’s and children’s NHS services here in the UK, this cause is especially close to my heart. I see every day how access to education and health support can change lives—and it is deeply moving to be able to contribute to making that a reality for girls and young women in Zimbabwe.

Every donation will go directly towards supporting the children at Chidobe School and helping Days for Girls reach more girls with the resources and knowledge they need.

Please consider donating, no matter the size. Your generosity will have a direct and lasting impact on children and young women inZimbabwe.

Together, we can honour Alex’s memory, continue the vital work of the memorial fund, and champion dignity, education, and opportunity for the next generation.

Thank you so much for your support.
Best wishes
Amanda
