Hello, my name is Carol Sanchez, and I am creating this fundraiser for my father, who is suffering from macular degeneration in his left eye and cataracts in both eyes.

His vision has deteriorated so severely that he can barely see. The most heartbreaking part is watching him slowly resign himself to blindness. Light bothers him so much that he often keeps his home in darkness, saying he must “get used to it.” Seeing him live in the dark, not because he wants to, but because he feels he has no other choice, is deeply painful for our family.

g in his eyes, he has developed floaters — dark spots and shadows that drift in his field of vision, making it even harder for him to see clearly. These floaters make simple activities like reading, recognizing faces, or walking safely increasingly difficult and confusing.

Currently, he is afraid to leave the house for even simple errands, like going to the doctor or buying groceries, because he struggles to recognize faces, judge distances, or cross the street safely. This has greatly limited his independence and social life.

He struggles even to pour a glass of water because he cannot judge distances. He bumps into objects and depends on others for basic tasks. Little by little, he is losing his independence, dignity, and hope.

The pain he suffers is extreme. Some days the pain is so intense that it causes bleeding in his eyes. This is not just about losing his sight, it is about living every day with constant physical suffering.

Doctors have confirmed that he urgently needs surgery and treatment. We hope to raise the funds in the next 2–3 months so that the surgery can be scheduled as soon as possible. The total cost of treatment and surgery is approximately $8,000 USD, an amount far beyond what we can afford.

My father lives in Venezuela , where the healthcare system practically does not exist, public hospitals lack resources, and we cannot afford private insurance. Despite working hard his entire life, he is now unable to pay for the care that could save his sight and relieve his pain. Our entire family is facing severe financial hardship, and your help is truly needed.

We know he wishes to share more moments with his children and grandchildren, even though this situation makes it difficult. We want to make sure we support him in every way possible so that those moments can be as meaningful as possible.

My father is a humble and hardworking man who has always given everything for his family. Now, he is the one who needs help.

Hola, mi nombre es Carol Sanchez, y estoy creando esta campaña para ayudar a mi padre, quien sufre de degeneración macular en el ojo izquierdo y cataratas en ambos ojos.

Su visión se ha deteriorado tanto que casi no puede ver. Lo más doloroso es ver cómo poco a poco se ha ido resignando a la ceguera. La luz le molesta mucho, por eso suele mantener su hogar en penumbra y dice que debe “acostumbrarse” a vivir así. Verlo vivir en la oscuridad, no porque quiera, sino porque siente que no tiene otra opción, es muy triste para nuestra familia.

Además, debido al sangrado que ha tenido en los ojos, ha desarrollado “moscas volantes” (floaters): manchas y sombras oscuras que se mueven dentro de su campo visual y que le impiden ver con claridad. Estas manchas hacen que actividades simples como leer, reconocer rostros o caminar con seguridad sean cada vez más difíciles y confusas para él.

Actualmente, tiene tanto miedo de salir de casa para hacer una simple diligencia, como ir al médico o comprar alimentos, porque le cuesta reconocer rostros, calcular distancias, cruzar la calle o caminar con seguridad. Esto ha limitado enormemente su independencia y su vida social.

Tiene dificultad incluso para servirse un simple vaso de agua porque no puede calcular las distancias. Se golpea con los objetos y depende de otras personas para realizar tareas básicas. Poco a poco ha ido perdiendo su independencia, su dignidad y su ánimo.

Los dolores que sufre son muy fuertes. Hay días en los que el dolor es tan intenso que le produce sangramiento en los ojos. Esto no se trata solo de perder la vista, sino de vivir cada día con un sufrimiento físico constante.

Los médicos han confirmado que necesita cirugía y tratamiento con urgencia. Esperamos reunir los fondos en los próximos 2–3 meses para programar la cirugía lo antes posible. El costo total del tratamiento y la cirugía es de aproximadamente 8.000 dólares, una cantidad que está completamente fuera de nuestro alcance.

Mi padre vive en Venezuela , donde el sistema de salud prácticamente no existe, los hospitales públicos carecen de recursos y no podemos pagar un seguro privado. A pesar de haber trabajado toda su vida, hoy no puede pagar el tratamiento que podría salvar su vista y aliviar su dolor. Toda nuestra familia atraviesa una situación económica muy difícil, y su ayuda es realmente necesaria.

Sabemos que desea compartir más momentos con sus hijos y nietos, aunque esta circunstancia se lo dificulta. Queremos asegurarnos de apoyarle en todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance para que esos momentos sean lo más significativos posible.

Mi padre es un hombre humilde y trabajador que siempre dio todo por su familia. Hoy es él quien necesita ayuda.
