Jeffrey Winfery - 22 days changed Lori’s Life!

In 22 short days, my Best Friend lost the Love of her life!

My name is Audrey Torres, I am starting this Go Fund Me for my Best Friend of 48 years, Lori Winfery, as she has lost her beloved husband, Jeffrey Winfery.

Jeffrey was shockingly diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on April 11, 2024, and tragically passed away 22 days later, on May 3, 2024.

Jeffrey went to the ER on April 8th 2024, as he was having abdominal pain and other discomforts, he was then admitted to the hospital. Then on April 11th after having several tests, scans, and MRI’s, they met with several teams of doctors, whom advised them of Jeff’s dire/deteriorating condition. He was then discharged on April 13, 2024.

A future appointment was scheduled for April 25th to find out their treatment plan to move forward, but he started having other issues. On Monday, April 22nd, Lori took him back to the ER.  Jeffrey was again admitted to the hospital. 

They did a brain scan and they found that Jeffrey had a large stroke on his Right Temporal Lobe, and he also had several smaller strokes on both sides of his brain.  It affected his “field” of vision on his left side, and due to microscopic bleeding in his brain, they could not start any type of treatment for the cancer.

On Tuesday, April 30th they met with several teams of doctors for an update. The Doctors said there was nothing they could do for him as the cancer had spread in his kidneys, his liver, and it had also metastasized in his bones and lymph nodes. 

Unfortunately, this cancer is regarded as one of the worst and most aggressive of all cancers. Jeffrey was declining very rapidly.

On Wednesday, May 1st, Jeffrey was moved to the VA’s Hospice House on the campus at the Long Beach VA.  The prognosis given was a few days to a few weeks.  

A handful of family and friends were able to visit and speak with Jeffrey. A personal memory I will hold in my heart is when Jeffrey adoringly looked up at Lori at his side, and with a smile, as he kissed her hand and whispered “I love you” as he rested his forehead on her hand.

The Lord received Jeffrey on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at 1:23 a.m.

To see your loved one endure so much pain is heart wrenching. Jeffrey adored Lori and always referred to her as his Angel! Their relationship started in 2017, but have only been married three short years. During that time, they created so many memories with family and friends, and had planned for many more years of happiness. 22 days changed their whole lives!

Jeffrey was an amazing husband to Lori, a kind and loving man. He is already greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

This has all happened so very fast, so we are asking for donations for financial assistance to help with the final expenses to lay Jeffrey Winfery to rest.
