Improve the safety at the Climb Malawi boulder gym

Climb Malawi is a socio-economically inclusive climbing community in Malawi, the so called "Warm heart of Africa", where everyone is welcome and no one is turned away.
- The climbing facility is a meeting place where locals and foreigners gather as equals. Climbing can be a great equalizer and the community a great place to exchange for people of different backgrounds.
- Malawi lacks recreational opportunities and healthy recreation is incredibly important for youth development. We also organize climbing for disadvantaged children and youth as part of the support in their personal development.
- Climbing brings us joy! We want to share that joy with our community, in the gym as well as during outdoor trips.
Since Climb Malawi is run as an NGO, our fees to the gym and the outdoor trips are donation based and everyone can pay what they can effort to make sure no one is excluded. Those donations are mainly covering our running and staff costs.
The landing zone is currently made off covered mattresses, a solution that unfortunately is starting to deteriorate and making climbing increasingly unsafe.
After some exchanges with our friends at the Climb Center in Zambia, we found a locally adapted solution by creating one continuous surface which will also increase safety and sustainability. The safer the gym the more groups we can welcome and the more social impact we can achieve in our community.
The grand total for all new mattresses and durable covers amounts to 4500 Euros. Our members volunteer all labor, ensuring that every Euro you donate goes directly towards purchasing the materials we need.
We will take the leap of faith and start with the improvement right away, trusting that we will raise the money through fundraiser in the next year.
