Hi, my name is Marcel and I am raising funds to train doctors in Zambia in safe and effective snakebite treatment. I have lived in Zambia since 2011 and I am the national snakebite advisor.

Zambia is home to 104 snake species out of which 31 are potently venomous. This includes the Black Mamba and Many Cobras and Adders.

Annually, more than 36,000 snakebite incidences take place in rural Zambia among the poorest people in the country. About 5,000 bites are potentially deadly. Many people suffer amputations or severe scars. Often, people are no longer able to do their job, leaving their families destitute.

Good medical treatment can save lives and limbs.

Unfortunately, most doctors in Zambia do not know how to treat snakebites. This is what I want to change with your help:

With my organisation, Snake Safety Zambia, I offer certified, 2-day training courses in snakebite treatment for medical professionals.

By training doctors in effective snakebite treatment, we can reduce the number of snakebite deaths and amputations significantly. Our goal is to train at least 200 doctors in 2026. However, we lack the financial resources to administer these courses.
