Hello. My name is Max, and I am a teenager from Huntington, New York. While on Instagram, I discovered a Ugandan-Christian orphanage called God’s Care Child Ministry Uganda that takes care of orphans within the local Mityana area, roughly 70 kilometers from the country's capital. The orphanage, run by Mr. Adam Ssebatta and his team, provides food, shelter, clothing, education, basic healthcare, and a foundation in the Christian faith to the 36 children under its care. The situation of these children inspired my parents and I to contribute financially to their cause. After communicating with Mr. Ssebatta, I came to understand that their situation required help from more people. I have created this GoFundMe page for this reason.

Through the examination of legal documents and ample, consistent visual proof, Mr. Ssebatta has proved that both he and God's Care Child Ministry Uganda are legitimate. I have been working with him and this organization since 2022.

About the Orphanage:

Mr. Ssebatta had a difficult childhood in many respects; he grew up with no father and a mother who faced health challenges. In spite of these challenges, Mr. Ssebatta was able to receive the support he needed; his community cared for him, providing access to food and education, among other forms of support. This experience of Mr. Ssebatta's stirred within him a desire to be a similar light for others in his community. He founded God's Care Child Ministry Uganda and has dedicated his life to its development and the children for which it cares.

Mr. Adam Ssebatta and his team provide for the 36 children under their care in the following ways:

  • Food: All children receive two to three healthy, nutritious meals per day. The majority of food is locally sourced, consisting primarily of beans, maize, and other vegetables, some of which is grown themselves.

  • Shelter: All children have a safe, warm, and dry sleeping space.

  • Healthcare: Children receive regular medical check-ups as well as preventative and emergency care through local health providers.

  • Education: School fees and uniform costs are covered for all children through primary and secondary school. The schools follow Uganda's national curriculum, which covers the core subjects of Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Science. As they mature, the children will have the opportunity to gain practical skills through vocational training in the areas of carpentry, tailoring, or farming. The skills that students develop in these programs are extremely important in helping them secure a job, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and become self-sustaining. Mr. Ssebatta has helped several individuals secure scholarships to these programs in the past.

  • Spiritual Life: At God's Care Child Ministry Uganda, the children build a strong spiritual foundation. Every Sunday they are taken to Church, either the local Church, the Anglican Church of Ssekanyonyi, or the Born Again Church, which is of Catholic denomination. Prayer is conducted every evening, and on Saturdays and Sundays, more extensive sessions for prayer and reflection are held as the children prepare for the week ahead. Bible studies are held as well, which occur several times a week. The children learn about Biblical principles and how to apply them to their everyday lives, they read and discuss Biblical stories, and they pray and memorize Scripture as well.

How Your Donation Helps:

In addition to essential expenses such as food costs, school fees, and utillity and healthcare bills, your donation is allocated toward two key projects:

  • The purchase of a new 10,000 liter water tank for the collection of rainwater, reducing the expense of tap water ($1300).

  • The purchase of metal bed frames. The children currently sleep on mattresses on the floor, which were obtained in 2023. Bed frames are necessary to prevent the wear and tear of the mattresses (by lifting them off the floor) and enhance the health and sleep quality of the children ($3300).

If you are able to, please consider contributing. The need of these children is truly is great, and every donation makes a difference.

Note: GoFundMe platform restrictions prevent the direct transfer of funds to Uganda. All funds are transferred to myself and then sent directly to Mr. Ssebatta.
