These songs began emerging during one of the most tender and transformative seasons of my life. Bearing witness to my father’s decline with Alzheimer’s and his passing in March 2022 opened a deep well of grief—and with it, a profound spiritual and creative awakening. It also felt like a musical lineage was being passed to me. Songs began to arrive through honoring the grief, listening, and receiving.
Impermanence* is a collection of original community-singing songs—songs meant to be sung together—simple, embodied, and spacious enough to hold grief, remembrance, and love. This album is both a memorial to my father and an honoring of the musical legacy that continues through me.
This album is being created in community (with your support!). I’ll be working with Jason Traweek as engineer, supporting recording and production. Gregory Alexander—vocalist, musician, and my longtime friend and collaborator—will co-direct the musical arrangement of the album. Impermanence will also include the voices of community singers—people who have gathered in circle with me over the years and bring presence, care, and lived experience to this work.
By supporting this project, you become part of that living legacy—helping these songs be recorded, shared, and carried into new circles and communities.
