Impano Academy for Elite Athletes
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and track and field advocates,
I have stumbled across an opportunity that I believe will not only have a lasting effect on my life, but have the potential to change the lives of many young athletes. Paired with a visionary mentor and a few local Rwandans, the creation of Impano Academy for Elite Jumps is in the process of being established. Being a post-genocide nation, Rwanda has suffered greatly in its development of sports and education for its youth. We feel that sports can be used as means of empowerment for the youth, community, and families and create a bridge to promote peace and unity. Coach Allen Simms (Cornell University Jumps Coach) has already taken one trip to Rwanda and was greatly moved by the people. The unity and passion he was able to create in such a short time has locals empowered to create something more sustainable for youth in the sport of track and field. You can learn more here: www.impano.org
The short term plan:
-Return to Rwanda in December
-Continue to conduct track and field camps with schools all over the country
-Identity young talent and foster a passion for Athletics (track and field)
-Implement a training program for standout athletes
The long term plan:
-To promote the sport of Athletics (track and field) throughout the entire country in Rwanda
-Establish Impano Academy as an elite training group through our partnership with private schools in the capital city
-Train and educate emerging, talented athletes to reach an elite level and represent their country on the national and international stage
We have started the filing process to become a local Rwandan NGO and are working on 501c3 status in the United States. At this moment, your donation will help lay the foundation to help us get Impano off the ground and specifically will help send me to Rwanda in December during my Christmas vacation. The plane ticket to Kigali, Rwanda is $1,300 and $400 for 12 days of travel expenses. Anything extra that is donated will go directly to implementing camps and meeting the athletes’ needs.
I am excited to help establish Impano and hope that you see it was a worthy cause to support. No donation is too small and everything is greatly appreciated beyond anything that words can express.
