Art for development
Artistic expression is such an important part of a child's development. But access to the arts is limited. Schools are cutting back on arts budgets, and community arts programs can be costly for parents.
We wanted to provide a solution, and last year, thanks to a private donation, we were able to hold the inaugural Impact Arts Camp in Picton, Prince Edward County.
What we've done
Impact Arts Camp offers school-aged children a free, week long day program including music, movement, visual arts and other creative endeavours.
The camp is completely free, and open to all kids aged 7 - 10. Participation includes a number of workshops with professional artists, all materials, and allergy safe lunches and snacks. It also includes a showcase following the last day so kids can show their parents what they've created and learned.
How you can help
This year, we need some help. We'd like to keep this camp going, and keep it free. But we still need to pay for food and materials. We also want to pay the wonderful teenaged volunteers who take a week off work to help supervise our campers.
So we need your help! Donate what you can, and pass this on to friends and family who would like to see Impact Arts Camp continue.
