My name is Imogen and I’m currently 10years old. I was born with a rare lung condition called ACDMPV, or Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia with Misalignment of Pulmonary Veins. it’s a condition with no survival chance without a lung transplant.
I spent many weeks on and off life support at the Evelina Hospital at St Thomas's in London.
At 5months old I got my amazing gift of life because of an amazing family and little boy called Theo and his family making the brave decision to donate Theo’s organs. I am the youngest double lung transplant in Europe. I was 5 months old at transplant and weighed less than 10 lbs. Because of Theo’s family’s amazing decision I'm taking part in British transplant games in Sheffield this year.
I first took part when I was 2 years old, being the youngest participant that year.
This year I’m taking part in ball throw, cup stacking, running, speed trials cycling, walking race, obstacle course, road race last year I won 3 medals.
I'm looking to raise money for our amazing heart and lungs charity sh07. This year we are aiming to raise money for books to help children, before transplant and post transplant life, so they can have a clearer understanding of what life would be like. We are also raising money so that families going through transplant life don’t have to worry about accommodation. My mum and dad were given accommodation throughout my month long stay at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
