Imogen's 9yr old daughter has serious encephalitis
Donation protected
We're raising money to help our incredible friend and single mum, Imogen, whose 9 year old daughter Kiefer, was suddenly rushed to hospital on 29th December 2019 with serious encephalitis.
Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain. It is caused either by an infection invading the brain, or through the immune system attacking the brain in error.

Over the last 3 weeks, Kiefer has had multiple seizures, extreme hyper psychotic episodes, delusions, loss of memory, full body CT scans, been induced into a coma, had 5 blood plasma transfers to clean out her blood and endless other symptoms, tests and procedures.
Yet doctors still don't know exactly what is causing her extreme form of encephalitis.
What they do know is that this sweet natured and generous hearted young girl is going to be in hospital for weeks on end - and after that it will take her months, if not years to recover fully.

Imogen is a single mum and also has two other children - an 11 year old boy and a 4 year old boy. But she needs to be at the hospital every day, all day, to help care for Kiefer, as she requires minute by minute support and attention, as well as reminders of where she is, what has happened and what all the tubes sticking out of her body are for.
And wow, she is doing an incredible job. She is one fierce mama! She is literally surrounding her daughter with rainbows of light.
Kiefer beams with huge smiles, but these are often bitter sweet for Imogen. For although they give a glimpse of the bright and bubbly Kiefer beneath the tubes, in fact these smiles are sometimes part of her hyper psychotic episodes. Kiefer can go through days of improvement and increasing cognitive clarity, but at any moment she can start seizing again with things rapidly going down hill.
This disease is a rollercoaster ride, which is not for the feint hearted.

And you should know that Imogen has already been through so much....
In fact, just weeks after her new wonderful partner had given up everything to move from America to live with her in London in October 2019, he was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Heartbreakingly, she had just dropped him at the airport to return back to America for treatment, when she arrived home to find Kiefer in a seizure.
Imogen is strong. She's amazing and generous and she's a fighter.
But now she needs every bit of help we can give her.
We, her friends, are helping her with child care, meals, school runs, etc, but she has had to take unpaid leave from her job to care for her daughter and so she also needs our help to support her financially through this prolonged and intense period.
Please help us to raise at least £15,000 asap, so that Imogen can take all the time she needs to care for her extremely ill, beautiful daughter, Kiefer.

Thank you!
