As a child Charlee had chronic ear, nose and throat infections, both her tonsils and adenoids were removed. In high school she had mono and was bed rested for a month. Between 2[phone redacted] She was hospitalized multiple times with severe infections with the inability to swallow. In 2015 she had illnesses as simple as sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia which progressed in May. Charlee was admitted to the hospital for a viral infection which developed into a bacterial infection. She progressively got worse and was admitted to ICU with heart failure.
Charlee has seen 3 ear nose & throat specialists, and has seen Drs in internal medicine, infectious disease and immunologists in Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
All we know is there is a part of Charlee’s immune system that isn’t functioning properly. She develop’s viral infections which turn to serious bacterial infections. Each time she is hospitalized she is on several antibiotics, steroids and pain management. Currently their 6 year old daughter is showing similar symptoms and is being referred to specialists.
Charlee & Greg have sent her file to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and have been accepted as a patient. The purpose is to learn which part of her immune system is not functioning properly and how to build her immune system. They are leaving June 10th for 5-7 business days. The estimated cost is $25,000-$30,000 in US funds plus airfare and accommodations.
Both Charlee & Greg are so thankful for all the support from friends and family already. They are excited to hopefully find some answers to these medical problems.
Thank-you all so much !
