We are all concerned about what is happening with immigrants, ICE raids, and the Trump Administration unconscionable and unlawful actions against immigrants. In the past year we have been able to get four Haitians out of Haiti under the State Dept’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti. We are also assisting one Haitian who came through Mexico and is seeking asylum under the relevant immigration statutes. Ice Barbie and DHS canceled the TPS for Haiti, but a Federal Court in Sept ruled that the attempt to end TPS for Haitians was unlawful. Nevertheless, Haitian immigrants remain at risk of capture and deportation. The individuals we are helping, one who soon has a “Immigration Removal Hearing” and four others who are working toward getting DHS approved work permits, need financial assistance and advice and counsel. We have secured legal representation for each of them. This fundraising effort is for financial assistance for legal representation and related expenses. All funds will be administered and dispensed by Guy L. Smith IV and used solely for relevant immigration expenses. They will not be transferred directly to any individuals receiving immigration assistance.
